
The first amendment to the IEE Wiring Regulations 17th Edition was published in July 2011 and will become the current regulation standard.
A course designed to teach learners this first amendment and how it applies to them is coming soon. It will cover all aspects of the First Amendment and teach the differences between the 17th Edition and these first changes.

Section 444 - Measures against Electromagnetic disturbances
This section recommends ways to avoid electromagnetic disturbances from any equipment including; lifts, transformers or fluorescent lighting which can all cause electromagnetic disturbances and interfere or damage IT equipment.
Section 534 – Devices for protection against over voltage
This section details the installation of SPDs in order to limit the transient overvoltages and divert surge current away from sensitive equipment. Transient voltages can have a peak value of 6kV. Lightning strike and electrical switching can give transient overvoltages to installations.
Section 710 – Medical Locations
In order to ensure the safety of medical patients who are under the use of electrical medical equipment, strict measures are required.
Section 729 – Operating or maintenance gangways
Regulation 15 of the Electricity at Work Act specifies the need for working space, access and lighting to be correctly provided where work is being undertaken. This section details information such as gangway width, access, emergency access and evacuation.
Appendix Six - Model forms for certification and reporting
Periodic inspection and testing is required to ensure that installations have not deteriorated. Electrical installations should be maintained and a periodic inspection can ensure this.

This course will be held at the Watford based training centre close to London, the M25 and the London Underground system.
The 17th Edition amendment is ideally suited to anyone currently holding a 17th Edition training course who needs to update their knowledge to include the 17th Edition First Amendment.
All those wanting to complete this training course are required to hold an existing City and Guilds 17th Edition qualification.
