City & Guilds 2382-20 17th Edition Update Course

The 17th Edition Update is a short course for those with a 16th Edition qualification.

Please note, this course no longer exists and has been incorporated into the new City and Guilds 2382-12 course in Teesside.

This Teesside electrical training course has been designed to update existing electricians on the changes from the 16th Edition of the Wiring Regulations to the newer 17th Edition.

A City and Guilds qualification in 17th Edition is vital for ensuring that all electrical work carried out by you complies with current regulation standards. The 2382-20 course from City and Guilds will allow you to update your existing 16th Edition and means that all you knowledge will be current.

City & Guilds 17th Edition 2382-20 Electrical Training Course (Update)

The 17th Edition Wiring Regulations Update course is a classroom only course and as such has no practical work. It will teach current 16th Edition electricians the changes to the Wiring Regulations and ensure that they are able to carry out work to these standards.

It is essential that electricians currently holding a 16th Edition qualification update their skills to the current 17th Edition Regulations in order to ensure appropriate certification and verification of electrical appliances.

The course is made up of eight units of 17th Edition training including the following:

  • Scope, object and fundamental principles
  • Definitions
  • Assessment of general characteristics
  • Protection for safety
  • Selection and erection of equipment
  • Inspection and testing
  • Special installations or locations
  • Appendices

Teesside 2382-20 17th Edition Update Exam

At the end of the course there is an online multiple choice test relating to the BS 7671 17th Edition content taught over the course of the day.

The exam is open book, meaning candidates are allowed to refer to the 17th Edition book during the one hour exam.

Qualification Gained

All successful learners will be awarded with a City and Guilds certificate as well as a certificate of attendance.

The 17th Edition update course lasts 1.5 days including time needed for the City and Guilds Exam.

Who is the 2382-20 17th Edition Update suitable for?

The City and Guilds 17th Edition Update training qualification in Teesside has been designed for existing and experienced electricians who require an update to their current regulation knowledge from the 16th Edition qualification to the current 17th Edition Regulations.

What are the Pre-requisites for the Teesside 2382-20 17th Edition Update?

In order to qualify for a place on this update course, all potential learners must hold one of the following qualifications:

  • City & Guilds - 2330-07 or 2330-08 Level 3 in Installation (Buildings & Structures) or Maintenance
  • City & Guilds - 2351 Knowledge of Electrical Installation Engineering Certificate (completed as part of an Advanced Apprenticeship from January 2004 onwards)
  • City & Guilds - 2360 Level 3 in electrical Installation Part 2. Certification post January 2004
  • City & Guilds - 2381 16th Edition. Certification BS 7671 post June 2001

What can I do after this course?

Following successful completion of this course, learners will be able to choose to progress on to the following qualifications:

  • City & Guilds 2391-10 Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical installations
  • City & Guilds 2392-10 Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification
