The 17th Edition Wiring Regulations course is a three day course, with a City & Guilds online examination on the fourth day. The course is designed in this way to give learners time to study the regulations and absorb the information. The course helps to explain the regulations in a friendly and helpful way, and interoperates the complex elements of the regulations. This training course prepares you for the City & Guilds 17th Edition online examination taken as part of this course.

This 17th Edition Training Course covers the whole of the 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations text and also focuses on the On-site Guide which is a simplified version of the Wiring Regulations.
As this is a complex subject, the course is split into easy to digest chunks allowing you to absorb the information section by section.
The three days will cover the main objectives of the IEE Wiring Regulations and then move on to the details of subject areas:
Health & Safety
Earthing
- Types, faults, rods etc
Protection
- Mechanical, temperature, against under or over voltage etc.
Inspection & Testing
- Including; continuity, Insulation, Polarity, Earth Fault Loop impedance etc
Control
- Isolation & Switching
The 17th Edition City & Guilds examination is an online exam taken under City & Guilds Exam conditions. Each learner will have their own screen where they will complete the exam using the City & Guilds online exam system called GOLA. This is an open book multiple choice exam, where only clean copies of the 17th Edition can be taken.
You will receive a City & Guilds 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations certificate on successful completion of the exam and a certificate of Competence for attending the course.
This is a three day course with an examination taken on the fourth day.

This training course is suitable for all that work within the electrical industry, especially those who complete electrical installations or help aid or assess electricians and electrical contractors/installers.
There are no pre-requisites to the City & Guilds 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations course, although it is most suited to those working, or looking to work, within the industry and who have an awareness of electrical installations and principles. If you feel you may need to brush up on your electrical knowledge before completing the course, we offer some basic courses including the Basic Electrics course and Introduction to Inspection & Testing courses. These will prepare you for the 17th Edition Training.
After completing this course you can progress on to any of the electrical testing and inspection courses, and Part P courses. Combined with these qualifications the 17th Edition Training Course is a valuable asset and can help you progress on to other electrical career routes such as solar panel installation, testing & Inspection and more.
It is strongly advised that you have a copy of the BS7671 2008 17th Edition IEE Wiring Requirements book along with the IEE On-site Guide. You will greatly increase your success rate by reading both these books.
